If you're weighing up pantry design and installation in Derby, you've probably already worked out that a couple of extra shelves in the airing cupboard won't cut it. A proper pantry, whether that's a walk-in room, a butler's pantry off the kitchen, or a tall cabinet built into a run of units, changes how you cook and how much food gets wasted at the back of a shelf you can't see. Derby Kitchen Fitter designs and builds pantries in-house, from the first CAD layout through to the joinery and the final fit, using the same workshop and the same trades that build the rest of a kitchen.

Most enquiries fall into one of two camps: either there's an existing cupboard, understairs void or old scullery that could become a proper pantry with the right shelving, lighting and door, or the pantry needs to be built from scratch as part of a wider kitchen project. Either way, the job is planned around your kitchen and your household's cooking habits, not treated as a bolt-on squeezed in around someone else's schedule.

Pantry Cabinetry, Shelving and Fittings We Build in Derby

  • Walk-in pantry conversions from an existing cupboard, understairs void, utility room or spare corner
  • Butler's pantry with worktop, optional sink connection and space for small appliances such as a kettle or toaster
  • Tall cabinet and larder-style pantries built into an existing run of kitchen units
  • Pull-out pantry systems for narrow gaps beside ovens, fridges or end panels
  • Corner pantry solutions including carousel and swing-out units
  • Fully adjustable shelving in solid wood or edged plywood, sized to your cookware and stock
  • Pull-out wire baskets and soft-close drawers for items stored towards the back
  • Door-mounted storage racks for spices, oils, tins and small packets
  • LED strip lighting, door-activated sensor lighting, or glass-shelf lighting for a butler's pantry
  • Cabinet colour, handle and finish matched to your existing kitchen doors, or deliberately contrasted as a feature
  • Removal and registered disposal of the old cupboard, shelving or units being replaced

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Structural work to form a brand-new room, such as removing a load-bearing wall or knocking through to a garage, is surveyed and quoted separately from the pantry joinery itself
  • Plumbing a sink or tap into a butler's pantry needs a water supply and waste run already close by; where pipework has to be extended or run in, that's priced as an addition once we've seen the space
  • Full pantry organisation, labelling or stocking services aren't something we provide, though we'll talk you through a sensible layout and can point you to local organisers for the styling side
  • Listed building consent or planning permission, on the rare properties where it applies, is the homeowner's responsibility to obtain; we'll flag it during the design visit but won't submit the application on your behalf
  • Stone or solid-surface worktops for a butler's pantry are templated and quoted through our worktop specification separately from the standard cabinet price, since it's a different trade and material cost

From First Call to a Finished Pantry

  1. Get in touch -- Call or send details of the space you've got in mind, whether it's a cupboard that never earns its keep, a gap beside the fridge, or an understairs void nobody's found a use for. A short conversation is usually enough to work out whether it's a straightforward cabinet job or a bigger conversion.
  2. Free design visit -- We come and measure the actual space, not just the room on paper. Understairs voids in particular are rarely a neat rectangle, so we check headroom, any sloping ceiling line, and where services (pipes, cables, meter boxes) run before drawing anything up. You'll see CAD layout options rather than a rough sketch.
  3. Written, itemised quote -- Once the design's agreed, you get a proper written quote broken down by item, not a single lump sum. If plumbing, electrics or plastering are needed alongside the joinery, those are itemised too, so you know exactly what you're paying for before any work starts.
  4. Built in the workshop -- Cabinets, shelving and doors are built at our Derby workshop rather than assembled from flat-pack on site. That means less mess and less time in your kitchen when the fitters arrive, because the joinery work has already happened off-site.
  5. Coordinated site fit -- Our fitters install the pantry, and if the job needs an electrician for lighting circuits, a plasterer to make good the wall where an old cupboard's come out, or a plumber for a butler's pantry sink, those trades are scheduled and supervised as part of the same project rather than left for you to organise separately.
  6. Sign-off and guarantee -- Before we leave, we open every drawer, check every shelf bracket and door hinge, and walk you through the finished pantry. You get the written guarantees on the spot, and the old units and offcuts leave with us for registered disposal.
