A worktop is the surface every Long Eaton kitchen actually gets used on day to day, so getting the template right, the joints tight and the edges finished properly matters more than almost anything else in the room. Our stonemasons and fitters template on site once your base units are in and level, then cut and fit granite, marble, quartz, Dekton, Corian or Minerva surfaces so seams sit flush and sink or hob cutouts are properly sealed rather than just caulked over.
If you're planning new cabinetry alongside the worktop, our fitted kitchen and joinery service covers that side of the job too, so one crew can be scheduled for both instead of you coordinating separate tradespeople.
What's Included in a Long Eaton Worktop Installation
- Site templating (laser or manual) once your base units are fitted and level
- Supply and fitting of granite, marble, quartz, Dekton, Corian or Minerva surfaces
- Edge profiling - pencil round, bullnose, chamfered or waterfall finishes
- Sink and hob cutouts with sealed, waterproofed joints
- Upstands and splashback strips cut to match the worktop
- Stone jointing carried out by our stonemasons for a flush, near-invisible seam

Not Included / Costed Separately
- Removal and legal disposal of your old worktop - available as an add-on through our registered waste carrier status, not assumed by default
- Reconnecting plumbing such as taps, waste or a dishwasher - carried out by our NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds qualified plumbers and priced separately if it's not part of a full kitchen fit
- Gas hob reconnection and commissioning - only ever carried out by our Gas Safe registered engineers, and not included in a worktop-only price
- Tiling, replastering or making good behind the upstand if the existing wall isn't flat
- Adjusting or re-levelling base units to take the new worktop, if the existing carcasses have moved out of true
How We Template, Fabricate and Fit Your Worktop
- Design visit -- A free visit to your Long Eaton kitchen to look at the space, discuss materials and edge profiles, and talk through CAD options if you're planning new cabinetry alongside the worktop.
- Written quote -- An itemised quote covering material, fabrication and fitting, with plumbing, gas or waste-disposal work priced separately and agreed before anything is booked in.
- Templating -- Once your base units are fitted, levelled and fixed in place, we template the worktop on site - laser templating for stone and engineered surfaces gives an exact cutting pattern before a single cut is made.
- Fabrication -- Cutting, edge profiling and sink or hob cutouts are carried out off site to that template, and stone joints are prepared and jointed by our stonemasons ready for fitting.
- Fitting and sign-off -- The worktop is fitted, sealed and checked for level and joint quality, any agreed plumbing or gas reconnection is completed by the qualified trade, and we walk through the finished job with you before handover.
Comparing Worktop Materials for a Long Eaton Kitchen
| Material | Heat & scratch resistance | Maintenance | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Granite | Very high - safe with hot pans, resists everyday scratching | Occasional resealing to keep the surface non-porous | Family kitchens wanting a natural stone finish with proven durability |
| Marble | Good heat resistance but softer and more porous than granite | Needs sealing and care around acidic spills such as wine or lemon juice | Period or traditional properties where appearance matters most |
| Quartz | High resistance to heat and scratching, consistent colour throughout | Non-porous, no sealing needed, wipes clean | Busy family kitchens wanting low maintenance with a uniform look |
| Dekton | Extremely high heat and scratch resistance, UV stable | Virtually maintenance-free | Modern or open-plan kitchens, including areas near windows or a garden link |
| Corian / Minerva (solid surface) | Moderate heat resistance - can scorch if a hot pan is left directly on it | Seamless joints and integrated sinks; minor scratches can be buffed out | Contemporary kitchens wanting an integrated sink or drainer with no visible seam |
Trade-Qualified Fitting, Not Just Worktop Supply
Worktop jointing is stonemason's work, and that's who does it on our jobs rather than a general fitter finishing off a supply-only slab. Where a worktop installation touches other trades, it's handled by someone qualified for that specific job: plumbing reconnections by plumbers qualified to NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds, gas hob reconnection and commissioning by Gas Safe registered engineers, and any lighting or power work by Part P registered electricians who issue their own safety certificates. Old units and offcuts are removed under our registered waste carrier status, so there's nothing left for you to arrange a skip for or dispose of yourself. The installation carries a 5-year labour guarantee and a 2-year guarantee on the worktop material, and because the same crew plans, supplies and fits the job, there's one point of contact if anything needs adjusting after handover rather than a chain of separate contractors to chase. The business has been fitting kitchens across Derbyshire for 20 years and is a member of CITB and FSB.
Worktop Installation Questions from Long Eaton Customers
What happens to my old worktop once the new one is fitted?
We can remove your old worktop as part of the job and dispose of it legally through our registered waste carrier status, so you don't need to arrange a skip or separate removal yourself. If you'd rather keep or reuse the old surface - for a shed, garage or utility space - let us know at the quote stage and we'll leave it for you instead. Removal and disposal is priced as part of your itemised quote rather than assumed as automatically included, so it's worth telling us your preference upfront.
