A stone worktop lives or dies at the joint, which is why that stage is never handed to a general fitter here: granite, marble, quartz, Dekton, Corian and Minerva worktops are laser templated and jointed by experienced stonemasons, and every installation carries a 5-year labour and installation guarantee alongside a 2-year guarantee on the materials themselves. If a job needs anything beyond the worktop itself, the right trade is already on the team: joiners with City & Guilds and bench-joinery training for any cabinet adjustments, plumbers qualified to NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds for tap and sink reconnections, Part P registered electricians who issue safety certificates for any wiring work, and Gas Safe registered engineers for hob and range cooker connections. Old worktops are removed and disposed of through a registered waste carrier, so nothing gets left for you to deal with. We're based on Stenson Rd in Sunny Hill, and most worktop jobs are a short drive from there - Mickleover, Littleover, Chellaston, Oakwood, Chaddesden and Allestree all get regular visits, as do the Victorian terraces around Pear Tree and Normanton nearer the city centre, where hallways are often too narrow to carry a full-length stone slab through in one piece and the template has to allow for that split before fabrication even starts. Older Derby houses also tend to have walls that are out of square by a centimetre or more, which is one reason we laser template on site rather than working from a tape measure and a floor plan.
