What's Included When We Fit Your Breakfast Bar

  • A free home visit to measure your kitchen and existing cabinets or worktops before any design work starts
  • A layout showing how the breakfast bar sits within your existing kitchen, so you can see stool positions and overhang before committing
  • Cutting and finishing the worktop to size in your chosen material - timber, quartz, laminate, granite, marble or composite
  • Fitting the support structure that matches your overhang - brackets, corbels, cabinet backing, legs or hidden steel reinforcement
  • Secure fixing to your cabinets, wall or a custom-built base
  • Edge finishing and sealing for timber, or polishing for stone and composite surfaces
  • Advice on stool spacing, overhang and lighting position so the finished bar is comfortable to sit at
  • A final level and joint check plus full clean-up once the bar is fitted

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Bar stools and seating - we'll advise on sizing and spacing but these are usually sourced separately unless agreed upfront in your quote
  • Removing or altering load-bearing walls to open up a peninsula or pass-through layout - this needs its own structural assessment first and isn't assumed in a breakfast bar quote
  • New electrical circuits for pendant lights or sockets above the bar - our Part P registered electricians carry this out and certificate it as an added item
  • Plumbing changes if your design brings a sink or tap into the bar area - handled separately by our NVQ and City & Guilds qualified plumbers
  • Fitting a gas hob or range into the bar itself - completed and commissioned by our Gas Safe registered engineers, priced separately
  • Taking away your old worktop or units - we can arrange this through our registered waste carrier status, but confirm it's included before work starts rather than assuming it is

Comparing Your Breakfast Bar Options

Breakfast Bar Type Space Needed Typical Seating Cost Guide
Extended worktop Uses your existing cabinet run - no extra floor space needed 2-3 people (120-180cm run) From around £500-£1,000, usually the most cost-effective option
Wall-mounted fold-down Minimal - folds flat against the wall when not in use, good for flats and narrow kitchens 1-2 people Similar to a simple extension, from around £500 upwards
Peninsula Needs an L or U-shaped run off your existing cabinets 3-4 people (180-240cm run) Mid-range, roughly £1,000-£2,500 depending on materials
Island Needs clear access on all sides - suits larger or open-plan kitchens 4-6 people depending on size Mid-range to premium, £1,000-£5,000+ depending on materials and support needed

The Qualified Trades Behind Your Installation

A breakfast bar looks like a joinery job, but the parts that go wrong on a badly-fitted one are usually the parts you can't see - the bracket that wasn't rated for the overhang, or a socket wired in without a certificate. Our cabinetmaking and joinery is carried out by tradespeople with formal City & Guilds training and a bench-joinery background, which is what the cutting, edge-finishing and fixing on a breakfast bar actually calls for. If your design adds pendant lighting or new sockets above the bar, that work is done by Part P registered electricians who issue a full safety certificate - not left as a DIY afterthought. Where a design brings plumbing into the bar area, our plumbers are qualified to NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds standard, and any gas hob or range fitted into the bar is connected and commissioned by Gas Safe registered engineers. Old units and offcuts are cleared through our registered waste carrier status rather than left for you to deal with. The company is a member of both CITB and FSB, and every job carries a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation, with 2 years on materials.

Breakfast Bar Installations Across Derby and Derbyshire

Derby is our base, and it's where most of our breakfast bar work happens - from city centre flats where a fold-down, wall-mounted design makes sense, to family homes further out where there's room for a full island. We've fitted extended-worktop bars into terraced housing in Ripley, a peninsula bar into a galley kitchen in Long Eaton, and larger island designs into bigger properties in Duffield, alongside a granite waterfall island for an open-plan kitchen in Nottingham. Beyond the city, the same team covers Derbyshire towns including Chesterfield, Belper, Ilkeston, Heanor, Swadlincote, Matlock, Dronfield, Wirksworth, Bakewell and Buxton. Wherever you are in that area, the same joiner, electrician and plumber team works on your job rather than a rotating cast of subcontractors.
