What's Covered When We Design and Fit Your Contemporary Kitchen
- A free design visit with CAD options, either in your home or at our showroom, followed by a written itemised quote before any work starts
- Strip-out and removal of your old kitchen, disposed of legally through our registered waste carrier status
- Plumbing connections carried out by plumbers qualified to NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds, and Part P electrical work with full safety certificates issued for lighting and power
- Gas Safe registered connection and commissioning of gas hobs and range cookers
- Plastering, tiling and flooring preparation carried out by our own trades, including master plasterers, rather than agency labour
- Cabinetry and worktop fitting across Shaker, handleless and high-gloss ranges, including quartz, granite, porcelain and solid-surface worktops
- A formal sign-off walk-through once the kitchen is complete, with the 5-year labour and installation guarantee and 2-year product guarantee confirmed in writing
Not Included / Costed Separately
- Structural building work such as knocking through walls or extending the kitchen footprint - this can be arranged but is quoted and scheduled as a separate build phase
- Fully bespoke joinery outside the kitchen itself, such as fitted wardrobes or a home office, which is priced as its own project
- Building control fees or planning applications where your project needs them - we'll flag if your design triggers this, but the fee itself isn't part of the kitchen quote
- Repairs to floors, walls or wiring found once the old kitchen is stripped out - not unusual in Derby's Victorian and Edwardian properties with uneven floors, and always costed and agreed before we proceed, never added without your sign-off
- Redecorating rooms beyond the kitchen itself
How a Full-Service Fit Compares to Supply-Only or Self-Managed Trades
| Derby Kitchen Fitter (design, supply and fit) | Supply-only retailer, self-managed fit | General builder or separate tradespeople | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Design | Free consultation and 3D CAD design, refined until you're happy | In-store or online planning tool, no site survey | Design rarely included in the job |
| Trades on site | One crew: City & Guilds joiners, NVQ-qualified plumbers, Part P electricians, Gas Safe engineers, master plasterers | You find, book and coordinate your own plumber, electrician and fitter | Subcontracted trades booked separately, often with gaps between visits |
| Accountability | One point of contact responsible for the whole project | Retailer is responsible for the units, not the installation | Each trade answers only for their own work |
| Guarantee | 5-year labour and installation guarantee, 2-year product guarantee, in writing | Manufacturer's product guarantee only | Varies by tradesperson, rarely written down |
| Waste removal | Included, through our registered waste carrier status | Usually your responsibility to arrange | Often charged as an extra |
Every Trade Under One Roof, Signed Off in Writing
Derby Kitchen Fitter exists because too many kitchen projects turn into a relay of separate tradespeople, each one only answerable for their own bit of the job - and each one quick to point at somebody else's earlier work if a problem shows up after handover. A contemporary kitchen fit here doesn't run that way: design, cabinetry, plumbing, electrics, gas and plastering all sit under one crew, so there's a single team accountable from the first measurement to the final adjustment, not a list of numbers to chase.
Every trade on site is qualified in a way you can ask to see. Cabinetry and worktop fitting is handled by joiners with City & Guilds training and a bench-joinery background, so handleless doors and integrated hardware get hung properly rather than adjusted on-site to compensate for a rushed carcass build. Gas hob and range cooker connections are commissioned by Gas Safe registered engineers, and any new sockets, under-cabinet lighting or circuit work is carried out by Part P registered electricians who issue proper certificates for it. Plumbing connections for sinks, dishwashers and boiling-water taps go through plumbers holding NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds qualifications, and where a wall needs squaring up or making good before units go in, it's a master plasterer doing the work, not whoever happened to be free that week.
That standard of trade sits behind roughly twenty years fitting kitchens across Derby and Derbyshire, membership of CITB and the Federation of Small Businesses, and registered waste carrier status, so the old kitchen leaves the property with proper paperwork rather than in the back of an unmarked van. Every contemporary kitchen carries a 5-year labour and installation guarantee and a 2-year guarantee on products, put in writing before a tool is picked up - not a verbal promise that's hard to hold anyone to once the invoice is settled.
Where We Design and Fit Contemporary Kitchens Around Derby
Our workshop is based at 573 Stenson Rd in Sunny Hill, Derby, where design visits and material samples can be arranged alongside consultations in your own home. Beyond the Derby suburbs already covered on this page, the same design and fitting team regularly works out into Derbyshire's market towns - Chesterfield, Alfreton, Swadlincote, Ripley, Matlock, Dronfield, Wirksworth, Bakewell and Buxton - and across into Nottingham, so a period terrace close to Darley Abbey and a new-build out in one of those outlying towns get the same design process and the same written guarantees.
